Frequently Asked Questions

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing that uses a manual hand tool to create delicate, hair-like strokes while implanting pigment into the skin. This technique is perfect for clients who want to add density, refine their brow shape, or achieve soft, natural-looking definition.

Microblading is meant to be a subtle enhancement and works best for clients with normal to dry skin and a fair amount of natural brow hair. If you have very sparse brows or oily skin, Nano Brows may be a better option for you, as the results tend to last longer and heal more evenly.

What is Nano Brows?

Nano Brows is a type of permanent makeup designed to create precise, natural-looking hair strokes with the help of a permanent makeup machine. Unlike microblading, which uses a manual blade, Nano Brows are done with an ultra-fine needle that mimics the look of real brow hairs while implanting pigment into the skin.

This technique is safe for all skin types and is especially ideal for clients with oily, thin, or sensitive skin who may not be good candidates for microblading. Nano Brows offer softer healing, longer-lasting results, and unmatched precision — giving you brows that look effortless every day.

What is the Petite Brow Session?

This is our luxury mini service — a 45-minute session focused on one specific area
of your brows (front, arch, body, or tail). With just a few delicate strokes,
we balance and refine, giving you a subtle enhancement without a full
transformation.

  • The Petite Brow Session is perfect if you
already love most of your brows but notice one spot that feels sparse. It’s
also a great option if you’re curious about permanent makeup but not quite
ready to commit to a full Nano or Microblading service.

  • Because this service is so specific, we want to make sure it’s the right fit for you. To be approved, simply email us clear photos of your brows (with a note on which area you’d like to focus on) at theosiebeauty@gmail.com, or book a quick in-person consult.
Am I a Good Candidate for Permanent Makeup?

At OSIE Beauty, your safety and results are always our top priority. While most clients are great candidates for permanent makeup, there are certain situations where the service may not be recommended or may require extra care:

  • Age: You must be 18 years or older to receive cosmetic tattooing.
  • Pregnancy & Breastfeeding: As a precaution, we do not perform permanent makeup during pregnancy or while nursing.
  • Accutane: If you’ve taken prescription Accutane, please wait at least 12 months before booking.
  • Skin Type: Very oily skin can cause hair strokes to blur and heal softer, creating more of a powdered effect. In these cases, we recommend Nano Brows.
  • Lifestyle Factors: Smoking, iron deficiency, or anemia may cause pigment to fade sooner and increase the likelihood of bruising or bleeding during the procedure.
  • Medical Considerations:

-Wait at least 4 months after completing chemotherapy or radiation.
-If you have uncontrolled diabetes, permanent makeup may not be suitable.
-Clients with pacemakers cannot undergo machine-based tattooing.

  • Skin Conditions: Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis, alopecia, keratosis, keloids, and other conditions near the brow area will need to be reviewed during a consultation.
  • Scarring: Scar tissue in the brow area can affect healed results and requires a consultation beforehand.
  • Allergies: Please let us know of any sensitivities to latex, metals, or pigments.
  • Mature Skin: If you’re over 60, we may recommend a skin assessment first to determine which technique is best for you.
  • Sun Exposure: Sun-damaged skin can cause pigment to fade more quickly.
  • Blood Thinners & Bleeding Disorders: Conditions like hemophilia or the use of blood-thinning medication may cause excessive bleeding and affect pigment retention.
  • Recent Procedures: Chemical peels, laser treatments, or other cosmetic procedures may require you to postpone your appointment.

Important: If you’ve had your brows previously tattooed, a consultation is required before booking. Results vary depending on the age, color, and saturation of your existing tattoo. In some cases, removal or lightening may be recommended before new work can be done.

Should I book Nano or Microblading?

Not sure which service is right for you? We’re happy to help. Please email clear photos of your brows without makeup in natural lighting to theosiebeauty@gmail.com, along with:

  • Your skin type (oily, dry, combination, or normal)
  • Your brow goals (soft + natural, fuller, more defined, etc.)

From there, we’ll guide you toward the service that’s best suited for your skin and desired results.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Plan Ahead:

A little planning goes a long way in ensuring your brows heal beautifully.

To achieve optimal results for your eyebrow procedure, proper preparation is essential. Your eyebrow area should be healthy and irritation-free.

Detailed Pre-Care instructions can be found here: Pre Care

For the best healing and retention, it’s important to plan your schedule with your brows in mind. After your appointment, you’ll need to avoid the following for 10 days:

  • Workouts & Sweating: Skip the gym, hot yoga, or sauna.
  • Swimming & Submerging: No pools, oceans, or baths where brows are underwater.
  • Sun Exposure: Avoid tanning or prolonged time in direct sunlight.
  • Makeup & Skincare: Keep products away from the brow area.
  • Touching or Picking: Let flaking happen naturally — no picking or scratching.

How long is the appointment?
  • Microblading: About 1.5 hours
  • Nano Brows: 2.5–4 hours, depending on how sparse your brows are and your skin type

Both services include a full consultation, precise brow mapping, numbing, color selection, and the procedure itself.

Tip: Many clients like to bring earbuds to listen to a podcast or audiobook — it’s a relaxing way to pass the time during your session.

Does it hurt?

Your comfort is always our priority. For Microblading, we apply a high-quality numbing cream before we begin, and continue to numb throughout your session. For Nano Brows, numbing is applied after the first pass — but clients are always surprised by how comfortable the process feels.

Most describe the sensation as light scratching or pressure, usually around a 2–4 out of 10 on the pain scale. Everyone’s tolerance is different, and things like being on your menstrual cycle, frequent smoking, or conditions such as fibromyalgia can increase sensitivity. That said, the majority of our clients say it doesn’t hurt at all — and it’s much easier than they expect.

Can I book if I have had my brows done before?

Yes — but all clients with previous brow work must be approved before booking. Please email clear photos of your brows without makeup, taken in natural lighting to theosiebeauty@gmail.com.

For the best results, I typically only work over brows that are at least 85–90% faded. If your brows still hold too much pigment, you’ll be advised to wait, consider removal, or try fading methods before moving forward.

Once approved, your appointment will be booked as a new session, since every correction requires a customized approach. My goal is always to give you the most natural, flattering results — and if I don’t believe we can achieve your desired outcome, I’ll recommend the best next steps to help you get there.

How do I book an appointment?

Appointments can be booked directly through our website, with availability released up to 3 months in advance.

We recommend booking early, as spots tend to fill quickly. For the latest updates, follow us on Instagram @theosiebeauty.

Current clients are always welcome to reach out directly for scheduling assistance.

What is the healing process like?

For the first few days, your brows will look bolder and darker than they will once healed — this is completely normal. Around day 3–4, you may notice some light flaking or peeling as the skin heals. Please resist the urge to pick, as this can cause pigment loss.

By the end of the first week, your brows will appear lighter and softer. Over the next several weeks, the pigment will settle back into the skin and reveal its true color. Healing is usually complete in 4–6 weeks, at which point we’ll see you for your touch-up to perfect any areas that didn’t retain pigment.

Reminder : For the best healing and retention, it’s important to plan your schedule with your brows in mind.

After your appointment, you’ll need to avoid the following for 10 days: sun exposure, swimming, or sweating heavily for at least 10 days to ensure the best healing and pigment retention. We’ll provide a detailed aftercare card and healing guide at your appointment so you know exactly what to expect each step of the way.

How do I take care of my new brows?

Each client will be given a specific, customized aftercare kit. Please follow the instructions that were given to you at your appointment. Detailed after care instructions can be found here: After Care

How long will my brows last?

On average, results last 1–3 years, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you follow aftercare. Touch-ups are recommended to keep your brows looking fresh and defined.

Longevity can be influenced by several factors, including:

  • Skin type (oily skin tends to fade faster)
  • Pigment shade (lighter colors may fade more quickly)
  • Lifestyle (sun exposure, sweating, tanning, and skincare treatments like chemical peels can all impact retention)
  • Overall health & medications (metabolism, iron levels, and certain medications may cause pigment to fade sooner)

Most clients return for an annual touch-up every 1–2 years, but some may enjoy their brows longer before needing a refresh. Multiple sessions are completely normal and expected with permanent cosmetics, and your follow-up appointment (6–10 weeks after your first session) is where we perfect the details.

Please note: Final results cannot be guaranteed, as every skin type heals and retains pigment differently.

Will this replace my makeup?

Permanent makeup is designed to enhance your natural brows, not replace every look you could create with makeup. Since it’s implanted under the skin, results will always look softer and more natural than makeup that sits on top.

We focus on creating brows that flow with your natural hair growth and bone structure, so they look effortless and flattering every day. You can still add makeup for a bolder look, but the goal of PMU is to give you brows that feel fresh and natural — even without a pencil.

When do I need a touch-up?

We recommend an initial touch-up 6–10 weeks after your first appointment. This is where we perfect the details, even out any spots that didn’t retain pigment, and make sure your brows heal exactly as they should.

After that, most clients schedule a yearly refresher to keep the shape and color looking their best. It’s important to let your brows fade at least 40–50% before booking a refresher — this allows the new pigment to layer beautifully without looking heavy or blotchy.

Not sure if you’re ready yet? Email us clear photos of your brows, and we’ll let you know the best timing for your touch-up.

Is the procedure safe?

Yes — your safety is always our top priority. At OSIE Beauty, we use sterile, single-use tools for every appointment, and our studio follows the highest standards of cleanliness and infection control.

We renew our Bloodborne Pathogens certification annually, and we operate under an Occupational Exposure Control Plan to ensure that every step of your procedure is done safely. Clients can feel confident knowing that:

  • All items are disposable or properly sterilized

These safeguards are in place so you can relax knowing you’re in a safe, professional environment.

  • Deposits: A $200 non-refundable deposit is required for all new clients. A credit card on file is required for all appointments.

We appreciate your understanding — these policies allow us to respect both your time and the time of every client who books with us.
